Marshall started her career with the city as a school crossing guard in 2013 before she was appointed to be a parking enforcement officer two years later, Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora said in a statement announcing her death.
“Sorrow fills our hearts, a sorrow that is deep and personal,” said Gusciora.
Marshall was remembered as a “dedicated team player who brought a smile to those around her each day and made numerous contributions to [the] community.”
Trenton Police Director Steve Wilson will honor Marshall by flying the department flag at half-staff for the next week, according to NJ.com.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Ashley’s family and friends during this difficult time,” Gusciora said.
“While she will not be with us in person for the holidays, her spirit will be with us always.”
